Quickie Holiday Munchie for the Sweet Tooth

You'll see variations of this recipe all over the internet.  Do you want to know why?  Because it's so easy and so yummy.  The most popular name for this sweet treat is "Christmas Crack" and once you taste it, you'll know why.  It is so addictive, which is why you won't find me making it too often.
Still, it's a fantastic alternative to baking cookies for your neighbors and friends and is a great treat to keep your guests satisfied while you're running around cooking up a great holiday feast (like I will be this year!)
Chances are, you probably already have all the ingredients you need in your pantry already!

Christmas Crack
2 sticks of unsalted butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1 pound bag of mini pretzels*
12 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
pinch of sea salt

*Note: Don't have pretzels?  Try saltines!

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Cover an 11x17 baking sheet with aluminum foil and set aside.
Melt 2 sticks of butter in a small saucepan. While the butter melts, spread pretzels in a single layer in the aluminum foil covered pan.  Once the butter is melted, stir in the brown sugar and stir, letting the mixture bubble (but not boil).
Continue to stir the mixture until it has caramelized.  Pour the mixture slowly over the pretzels, covering all evenly.
Bake for 5 to 7 minutes.
Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl.  Be sure to set the microwave at 50% power and stir between 30 second time intervals to avoid burning the chocolate.
Once the chocolate is melted, pour quickly over the pretzel/caramel mixture and use an offset spatula to spread over the pretzels and caramel.
Sprinkle sea salt quickly over the chocolate before it cools completely. All the pan to cool in the fridge for an hour.  Once totally cooled, break into rough pieces and enjoy!
